poem: free trade 071609

Sex service users create the demand that moves pimps to provide supply women and young girls.  Without demand, there would be no pimp, no sex slave.  We need to go after the users, most of whom are men, many of whom are white and/or economically privileged.    ’nuff said…here’s the trick…

for centuries these days
under the watchful gaze
dazed artists and pimps play
with a demonized voice and
leave the rest of us without a choice

but who is it behind the scenes?
look and see who is pulling strings
white men float by like ghosts
gluttonous gloats, pats on backs
“kudos, good man!” to raised white hands
white wine to toast this white-washed land
and how everything is just fine…

the highest line of powder white praise goes
to the unsatisfied abusive power crave
creating demand for the modern day slave
sustaining this economy are anonymous men
sex service use is a human rights abuse
commoditizing women and children
reducing them to human sex toys
it’s the eponymous legacy of
the anonymous Johnnie Boy

clever ploy how they hide
in plain sight without a face
we let this common place bad guy
disappear without a trace
they remain invisible because
the public turns a blind eye
easily divisible, scared silent
by the realized possibility
if we open our eyes
and see those bad guys
might be you and me…

to recognize that common fact these days
is an uncommon act of bravery…
